Shopify integration

Fill your product grids straight from Shopify.

Copying titles, prices and image links out of Shopify one product at a time is the slowest part of most sends. Connect your store and your team searches the catalogue from inside the campaign, ticks the products they want, and the grid fills in.

No Shopify app to install.

How it works

From your store to the email in three steps

The first two happen once. After that, adding products is part of building a campaign.

  1. Workspace admin

    01

    Connect the store

Paste your store's address and a Storefront token from Shopify's free Headless channel.

  2. Developer or agency

    02

    Mark what each field takes

In the template, set fields to take a product's title, price, image, link or Sale badge.

  3. Marketer

    03

    Pick the products

Add products to a grid, search by name or SKU, and tick up to the grid's limit.

In the email

Each product lands where the template expects it

What fills in is ordinary content, so your team can still rewrite a title or swap an image before the email goes out.

  • Prices as shoppers in your chosen market see them, in its currency and format.
  • The compare-at price and a Sale badge when a product is on sale. When it isn't, the template's sample price is cleared, so it never goes out by mistake.
  • Product photos sized to stay sharp on retina screens, with the product's alt text.
  • Links to each product page, on Shopify or your own headless storefront.
  • If a price changes before the send, Update fills the item again from the store as it is now.
Privacy

Your catalogue stays in Shopify

Connecting takes your store's address and the public Storefront token Shopify gives every headless storefront. The settings it unlocks decide which market's prices show and where product links go.

  • Your team's browser asks Shopify for products directly. Our servers never call your store.
  • Modular Mail doesn't copy or index your catalogue. Only what goes into an email is saved, like any other content.
  • The token is read only. It sees published products and can't touch orders, customers or your Shopify admin.
FAQ

Questions about the Shopify integration

Do we need to install a Shopify app?

No. You connect with your store's .myshopify.com address and a public Storefront access token, which you get by adding Shopify's free Headless sales channel. Nothing is added to your theme or checkout.

Can we try it before connecting our store?

Yes. Our free Shopify product email template is linked to Shopify's Hydrogen demo store, so you can search for products and fill a grid in your browser with no account. Open the template

Does Modular Mail store our product catalogue?

No. Your team's browser asks Shopify for products directly, and our servers never call your store. Only what someone puts into an email (a title, a price, an image, a link) is saved, like any other content.

Which email platforms does it work with?

All of them. Products are filled in while the email is built in Modular Mail, so the HTML you export to Klaviyo, Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or any other ESP already has them in it.

Does it work with a headless storefront?

Yes. Change the product page address to your own site and product links go there instead of your Shopify store.

Can we connect a password-protected store?

Yes, with a Storefront access token. Without a token Modular Mail can only see products on your online store, and a password-protected store won't connect.

Which plans include the Shopify integration?

Every plan, from Starter up. See pricing

Can we change a product's details after picking it?

Yes. A filled title, price or image is ordinary content, so your team can edit it like anything else, and one undo takes a whole pick back.

Can our agency set up the templates before the store is connected?

Yes. Fields can be marked to fill from a product before any store is connected, so the templates are ready when the store is. Each workspace connects one store. How agencies use Modular Mail

See your product grids fill themselves.

Forward us a recent campaign. We'll rebuild it in Modular Mail and show its grid filling from a Shopify store on the call.
